Saddle Prep

This shows essential steps during preparation of a fully compensated saddle.

Use an easy clean up water marker.

Sand the saddle top arch to shape first. Then mark the edge. The saddle is clamped in a tall Gyro Vise.

File the compensation ramps. The green shows and ensures that the original curve is retained throughout the filing operation. Use a square rat tail and a cabinet makers file. After the ramps are filed and sanded smooth, use a wet rag to wipe off the green.
